This was a huge assignment: write, art direct and design a complete set of brand guidelines for Erie Insurance, a Fortune 500 company. While fully in charge of this project, I created the all the rules and specifications, decided how it would be laid out and even wrote the copy about how those rules are to be applied. It was a great experience, to think backwards and come up with solutions to the dozens of little problems and puzzles that seemed to arise as the project went on. I found it helpful to invent proper-noun names for certain visual elements that were repeated, which was successful in that it made the written descriptions more easily understood, and gave those elements more personality and ownability.
